4.2 Explain why copyright is important in the film industry

MY RISK ASSESSMENT

What is copyright ?

Copyright is a legal term it is use for creators and authors has the rights to their works and no one is allowed to use it without their consent because would be illegal.

Why does copyright law exist?

Copyright laws exist for people created dramas and books and movies the rights to have they work exclusive because they are the one’s who created.

What kind of work is covered by copyright?

copyright covers variety stuff in it’s intellectual property like literature , movies , games , music.

What might happen if you were to use copyrighted material in your film?

if you were to use copyrighted material in your film , you will end up in court with the creator or the author and you will have to pay for the damages because you did not ask for permission.

How can you make sure not infringe copyright law in your film?

Make sure you have the permission from the creator or the author.

Make sure you research and understand the legal rights of using any type of media or literacy works in your countries respectively.

There is no copyright problems in the making of the short film that was involved it was all completely originally.

Copyright is in important for a film because who ever makes the film is usually the Director or producer that means they own rights to the movie so no is allowed to make money of it because they don’t own the film, example like downloading the film or recording by phone.

Fifth day at BFI FILM ACAMDEMY

I went to showroom cinema and I learned about editing.

So everybody was in teams of two so we all trying out adobe premium and it was really fun. and so we finished on working on a films we week ago making it better by editing, and after that we went to our film group discussing our short film idea and after that we went home.

Third day at BFI FILM ACADEMY

We saw a green screen which was awesome. So met Daren Eagles teaches us about cinematography I learn about different shots like long shot, medium shot, and so on colours in film and what colour would be appropriate for a particular.

So we met Jen who told us about the opportunities after the BFI Film Academy so we watch a trailer about BFI Film residential and shows visual effects, sound, animation and looked amazing.

So went and met up with Rob teaches about camera and all the different functions and settings what should do and also be careful with them.

So everybody was spilt into separate team to make little film.

So the group I was in consist of me and Abbie and Tom , Nora ,so at first we thought what should we do Nora ask me I wanted to be in the film and I wasn’t sure but we needed another person so went downstairs and find someone to be part of our team so we did and Dakota join in. We went to the 5th floor and decided what are we gonna do in the film so Nora asked does anyone have something ,so I checked in my coat pocket and i pulled my wallet so we decided that wallet our primary focus .

So we talked about having dialogue in the film and we decided that should be weird and so acted as a strange person who acts emotionless looking at a badge (BFI BADGE) and noticing someone with a BFI Badge as well, and telling him to deliver this badge to his colleague.

So we recorded and had retakes which was funny and during that time , I got myself trap in the elevator so that was fun Lol.

So after that we continue to record and after that we went back to the room and watch other groups films

So we learn about sound and how important it is on a film and after that we continue filming our shorts but this time with dialogue and the sound.

and after that we finished , we talked about ideas for our short film.

Second day at the BFI Film Academy

So I went to the bar ask the workers if know where the BFI is and they told me is in the workstation , so I went outside went to the workstation and happen to see Sam outside.

So he show me where everybody is and I sat down, and I saw Paul for the first time he is really nice.

So Paul was talking about his role as a Scriptwriter and he got in the industry by making films with his friends and making his first proper short and that lead to his first feature film and having pay job.

So task that everybody had to do was writing down character and also reading as the third person and correcting any errors.

I find it hard because I read and try then my brain just go blank which was annoying.

We met up with Caroline Cooper Charles she was talking about her role as a producer so she tell us what producer does and she did a interactive so we would say was the next that needs to happen pre production and budgeting and knowing what will be the best day on shooting your film because you don’t want it to rain after all. I learned a lot about producer , they do so much other than just produce film as I thought .

We met up with Rebecca Mark Lawson she was talking about how to write a script and explaining all different roles she did in the industry and also she has a her company in Sheffield Tyke Films and also she produced Irene ghost which I Seen in the BFI Film residential course.

So she told us writing should short but sweet and not to overload the page massive paragraphs and also she told us about guy name Jason who made a short film called 2:20 it was about a guy who was minding his own business and then he looked around for a bit then lady across the road just staring at him , and she crossed and she walk down the pavement put down the glasses at his table.

So the man pick up the glasses and everything he sees has number , he looked many people it tells him when they go to die.

so he looked at himself by the car there was 00000 and then 20 and then he looked back there was the lady from earlier staring like last time and he was looking at her and then the bus came and he was dead the end.

After that watching I thought it was interesting to watch and Rebecca told us what’s the difference between the script and how it was in the movie.

So people say there was old man in the script but really it was a lady in the Film and it was said the café was scruffy but really in my opinion , it didn’t look that bad.

Rebecca was talking for a while she says go into your film group , to discuss what type of film that we would like to make as a short film.

So everybody went into there film group , So the group I was in we were discussing what ideas would be for a short film so Sophie was talking about about this this person trying to get a job and fails to do and a table just comes closer and closer everybody find it funny and Huema was talking about people life and all the different patterns and circumstances and Huema ask do I have a idea and I said yeah the ideas came up with is about this chef doing normal thing and the chef realises that the co-worker across from it didn’t look like a familiar person because it is actually a murder who’s disguising itself as a chef.

So we were brainstorming ideas of what will our short film was about.

MY FIRST DAY AT THE BFI Film ACAMDEMY AT THE SHOWROOM IN SHEFFIELD.

My first day at the BFI Film Academy was great to meet so many aspiring people that wants to work in the film industry and the people that I met are really nice.it when I got there Andy explaining his role as senior programmer So everybody was in the group so tells us about NCFE which very recognisable qualification in the film industry.

My First Blog Post

This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
